Spare tyre

Post by MarkyB »

When was the last time you checked yours?

I'm thinking it must have been more than a year for mine and it had 4psi in it  .

While I was doing this I tried using the spare wheel clamp to remove a hub cap, it works very well but is rather hard on IT workers hands.
Beg, borrow or steal a small towel to live above the spare to soften the blow and to wipe you hands after a wheel change.

I keep a spare set of gaskets on top of my spare wheel. Never had much joy getting the hub caps off with the clamp, a screwdriver works on the studs on the MM wheels and the bit on the other end of the wheel brace just about gets the MM size hub caps off the button fixings on the Traveller wheels.
I checked the spare pressure the other day when I had the boot floor out, a little bit low but the valve would not depress to pump more air in, will have to change the valve core

Spare wheel? My Mog didn't come with one! And - having the wrong rear axle - would need TWO spare tires. Luckily, I've bought the right axle, and have five proper wheels that'll go on the finished car.

Got mine out, when I got the car home after purchase as part of the strip down. It is a cross ply. Unfortunately, the rest of the tyres a radial :o

I've got a small 'L' shaped lever made from a flat strip of steel that came with the first saloon I bought years ago, it went into the tool box and is still in use today.
It's perfect for removing hub caps, every corner's rounded and it's plated/treated, it's also strong/rigid. It's got to be an original for some make or other, there's a slight kink at the corner of the ''L' to give it strength when levering. It's never failed me.

Any ideas if it's a Morris part anyone?
