It's held in with cable that is pulled tight and fixed from the rear window.. travels through the round piece of roof above the doors and stops behind the dash just above the shaped leathery panels above the front wheel arches.

So... unscrew the bit of roof lining below the rear window, pop it out from behind the window rubber and detach it (without tearing it) from the sides.. it is hooked in. Once this is removed you'll see the rear bit of the cable attached to a self taper. If you remove the front leather panel and look up, with a torch you should see the front bit of the cable and self taper.

Now I guess removing it means you'll need to loosen the cables... but I'd think first how you'd get them back together again as it's a job I've never attempted and could be a pig.

There's a good thread here containing details of how to remove the old headlining and fit a new one: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=20065
