some rediculous driver!
AAARRRGGGH! dont some drivers just get right on your last nerve. i had an encounter with a rediculous genlteman this morning, first he tried to undercut me turning of a roundabout, then when he couldnt get past he waited till we were off the round about and tried ot overtake me, then turned in on me, if i hadnt have mounted the pavement my wing would ahve ben in his door! ive never had anyone intentionally try to crash into me before =/ needles to say i got out my car and we had a .....heated... debate i mean i have a very visible child seat in that car, what if i had them with me at the time? if there were pedestrians on the pavement id have had no choice but to hit him. f***king lunacy.
end result? im steaming mad and have a sore fist =/

Re: some rediculous driver!
Undercutting on a roundabout is a common thing, usually caused by approaching in the left hand lane then taking the righthand exit. Anyone in the correct approaching lane (righthand) taking the same exit has an idiot on the inside. I've even seen the police do it! I can't decide whether folk just don't know how to do it or they are just, no I won't say it!
Re: some rediculous driver!
Glad you are ok.Many people who do not own one appear to think Minors can only do 30mph,at least it appears that way from experience, driving out in front of you at junctions at the last second, cutting in front when in traffic, having to get back in front of you if you overtake, dont these people ever think about cars with drum brakes?
I dont normally condone violence but hopfully this other driver learnt a valuble lesson today.

Overtaking aggressivly is one thing, and I could live with that. Bit he tried to crash into me. And like I say, with a very visible baby seat, he didnt know it was empty.

Sounds like a right idiot.. The most annoying thing is there the same drivers that overtake you on a straight bit, but then you catch them up doing 20 in the next series of corners... RWD cars all the way

Re: some rediculous driver!
Have to admit, I find folk react differently to my driving when I am in the Morris.
My other car at the mo is a honda jazz, which isn't much quicker than the Morris. I have just adapted my driving to suit the cars - slow lane, not overtaking unless there is a mile clear in the right hand lane etc.
This being said, I was doing Ayr to Largs one day last month and a geez in an artic just totally lost it with me for no reason. Like someone else said, I think folk see the old car and think "must get past! must get past!".
Still, who cares, I have reached a level of inner piece driving around in slow cars. As the Stone Roses sang - stop the world, i'm getting off, i've had enough.
Anyway the wind blow - o's!

Re: some rediculous driver!
i had an artic following me in a 40 zone, well i say following, he was right on my bumper, i tried just sitting at 40 to teach him a lesson, but then he made moves to overtake, which i didnt feel it was safe for him to do so, so i sped up. even at 50 he was still right on me!
lo and behold we got to a roundabout, he had to slow right down and i carried on at 35-40ish
but then on the next straight he zooms right up behind me! this continues for a few roundabouts. then we get to a short stretch of dual carriageway. as soon as he (expectedly) pulled out to overtake me, i floored it and left him!
i think he learnt that day that not all old cars are slow.
another peeve is people pulling out of side roads ahead of me, their mentality must be 'i dont wanna get stuck behind that old car, i'll get out in front of it'. they never seem to think 'that old car has probably got old brakes, i'll pull out in front of it and get hit'.

Re: some rediculous driver!
What really got to me was when he said he was fed up of getting this all the time dangerous drivers like me! If I'd gets it all the time shouldn't that tell him something?! I shouldn't have to point out to a man twice my age that anything after 1oclock is a right turn! Especially when he'd been indicating left for two exits without taking them.....

Re: some rediculous driver!
Some drivers go to extraordinary lengths to get past a Morris Minor, which is after all capable of doing 30 in a 30mph limit and 60 in a 60mph limit but that's not good enough for them. Either they will take enormous risks or just stick to your back bumper for mile after mile. This happened to me not so long ago in France. When just tootling along at a steady 50mph I noticed a Golf driver running extremely close behind, not overtaking when he had plenty of space. I did not just slam on the brakes which is oh so tempting to do but gradually slowed down to about 35mph. The nice young man was so incensed he just pulled alongside blowing his hooter and giving me the one arm salute. I drove along as if I hadn't seen him. In my youth I used to use a black sidevalve Ford Pop as an everyday car which was even slower than a MInor and had a cruising speed of about 45-50mph. There were one or two altercations with other motorists who carved me up, one Cortina driver even managed to hook his rear bumper onto my front offside wing he was that close. Yes I do remember, to my shame, punching someone in the face! These days I will go to great lengths to let the idiots past after all they are so much better up front where you can see them!
Re: some rediculous driver!
Tbh I wish I'd just tapped him as he came into my Wing, he'd have spun out a treat.
Re: some rediculous driver!
I must be on a different wavelength, I was under the impression we were talking about cars creeping up on the nearside at roundabouts, which happens whatever car you're in.
