Rear Mount Cycle Carrier

Post by thecontainerdriver »

Hiya!

I spotted a Minor saloon in a car park yesterday with a cycle carrier attached to the back of it. It was the kind of carrier that holds your bikes high up so that the number plate is still visible. The carrier was attached to the boot lid at four points and the bumper at two points. Sure enough the Minor drove past me a few minutes later with two bikes attached to the back!

It set me off thinking if I could do the same with my Minor. However, mine has a fibreglass boot lid whereas the Minor I saw had a metal boot lid, judging by the rust on it! What do people think? Would the fibreglass boot lid be strong enough to take the cycle carrier?

All the best.

Probably not. I have an aluminium boot on my Mercedes and the cycle rack manufacturer wouldn't recommend fitting the rack.

I would rig something that uses the tow hitch or a roof rack
