Re: who went to brooklands?
I got to the gate and they spotted the dog in the back and would not let me in. Had to park in the public car park, leave the dog in the car and use the pedesrtian enrtance. Nearly told them where to stick their extra 90p Gift Aid or whatever.
Left early as I was slightly p***** off.

keep the pics coming
As for fuel consumption, work on petrol being £6 a gallon!
I reckon that's 36 mpg xpress, I suspect it would be better if calculated for a longer distance - maybe if you didn't live so close you would have saved more

Re: who went to brooklands? (pics)
Hello,
I went along to Brooklands. Lovely (cold) weather and there was a great display of Minors - probably the best represented model there. Well done to all. Liked the brown Minor trailer amongst others but my choice of what to take home would have had to be one of those Austin A60 Suntor camper vans - loved them
Lovely museum, but I'll take a flask and a picnic next year (and hopefully my car). Three coffees, a slice of cake and a couple of sarnies cost nearly £14! I could have gone to the motorway services for economy reasons...

Re: who went to brooklands? (pics)
lol i just realised, in ian's picture of all the cars lined up, i am parked up behind the green van at the front! lol.
cheers for that cmea, i am going to back out the mixture screw as much as possible tomorrow just until it starts running rough when warm then will turn it back in a bit! (need to economise during these times of high fuel prices!) ;)
will try and put up some other pics when i get a moment.
i loved those pop top campers too, they were quite popular! also loved the vans, the little tub race cars were good, what were they called, any info about those?
wish i could have had a go up the hill tho!

Re: who went to brooklands? (pics)
don't weaken it too much xpress. a lean engine is a hot engine. and you can burn out valves and cause head gasket failure if you're not carefull.

Re: who went to brooklands? (pics)
ah, ok. point taken! better not run it too lean! i will take a picture of where it is right now, i fancied moving it back a bit to see if it's set too rich. if it runs a bit lumpy will screw it back in. i have the use of a gas analyser, i could test it out on that. i have a feeling it might be running slightly rich. took a look at my points, they seem a bit pitted too but seem to have quite a bit of metal left on there. they've not been on there for that many miles! i am thinking of getting an accuspark distributor, would like to see if it helps mpg, has anyone seen an improvement?

Re: who went to brooklands? (pics)
Well we had a great time but also decided to make use of the facilities and have a quick service and tune up while we were there
[frame][/frame]
But Vic wasn't around so I went here instead
[frame][/frame]
While wating for the work to be done I had a go in the Mclaren simulator round the track in the 1920's
[frame][/frame]
And after the tune up I went for a spin, but where has everyone gone
[frame][/frame]
Oh well I will just have a go by myself then
[frame][/frame]
And in reality the track is actually steeper than it looks and it was a little hair raising to climb up on foot.
