Hi All,
As you may know I love cars, especially Minors, but they don't seem important at the moment.
On my way to work this morning I was sideswiped by a driver taking a blind bend on MY side of the road. He claimed he had something in his eye!!!!!!!!
The police who attended thought my car (Subaru Impreza WRX estate)would be a write-off.
o/s front and rear wings, o/s front and rear doors, o/s wheels smashed and suspension broken. n's tyres gouged and suspension bent (pushed into curb!)
Lots of witness's to support me and everyone walked away un-hurt (I'm stiff as a board mind you!) but It makes you think what-if..............it had been a truck rather than a small car...............!
As I said, cars don't seem important right now...........
Drive safe one-and-all!
Martin

BIgDawg, thank goodness you were able to walk away.
I agree that despite our love of cars; compared to having our life intact they do seem unimportant. And yep it doesn't bear thinking about if your car had been a smaller one met by a larger vehicle.
Hope your Subaru is replaced ok if it is beyond repair.
Look after that stiff back/neck which will no doubt feel much worse before it eases off. Plin

Main thing is you are okay. Thankfully you were in a strong car, hope it gets sorted without costing you too much.

Glad to hear you are still in one piece. Cars are just lumps of metal when compared to humans.
For your compensation claim, they will expect something for time off work if you are struggling to move and something on top for the suffering - but getting better matters more than the money.

Sorry to hear about your accident Martin
Glad you're OK though and as you say, there are more important things than cars. Make sure that you take it easy for a while as whiplash or other injuries can sometime take a little while to appear after an accident.

Hi and thanks for all the kind words.
Better today, just a 'weak' shoulder. Not sure if that was from the impact or from forcing the drivers door open!
*So far* paperwork going smoothly. Other driver has admitted liability. Been given a VW Toureg hire car while it's all sorted.
I'm hoping to pop down and inspect the Scoob (Sorry, club name for Subaru...!) later this week and take pics to show you all.
Surprisingly, I didn't get chance to take it all in on tuesday.
Ta!

In the spirit of trying to make lemonade from lemons, is it worth keeping back the wreck as part of the insurance settlement since the engine should fit nicely in a a Minor engine bay without all the cutting and spaceframing?
Glad you're ok Martin
