I've seen worse - under the bonnet is where the dynamo regulator has been crudely removed. It's neater to leave it in place - even though not doing anything. Nice Stewart & Ardern plate there!

You should be!im worried about the melted connector?
I was trying to work out what it was - looked like sellotape wrapped round something! So is it a melted chock block connector??
The wires are blackened which is a definate red warning / danger sign.

Your car wouldnt have self cancelling indicators, its too old they didnt come in until about 1959ish when they moved the horn to the centre of the steering wheel.

Re: Iffy looking Electrics... What do you think?
Looks pretty similar, if not better than mine. I need to get in there with a few zip ties at some point and tidy everything up.

Re: Iffy looking Electrics... What do you think?
i have to say everytime i see that signature pic i have to look twice ot make sure its not my car! mines black with a grey bootlid, has the rear wheel trim missing and has a roof rack! the only difference is yours is a 4 door!
but bck on topic you really want to solve that melted block... theres something not right there, especially with the scorched cable aswell.

Re: Iffy looking Electrics... What do you think?
I would get that loom replaced, I had the same wire that is blackened (with the melted block) catch fire, nearly lost the car due to poor electrics. Best be safe than sorry

Re: Iffy looking Electrics... What do you think?
I'd only be concerned with the melted chocolate block, either it wasn't man enough for the job, or was badly fitted.
Most of the wiring has been there for 55 years and is still doing it's job as designed.

Re: Iffy looking Electrics... What do you think?
Personally, I would chalk the wiring up as a "to do, fairly shortly" on that car. Its obviously not perfect but I wouldn't have thought from the photo's that it will cause a fire as is. Do keep a very close eye on it though and replace anything you feel concerned by (and theres no harm in adding additional fuses too)
Re: Iffy looking Electrics... What do you think?
Best thing you can do is spend 5 mins with a soldering iron and some heat shrinking remove that chocbox.

It's not that bad. These people do all the gear if you want to tidy it up
