What is the best way to bring them back to there original state? i have one but the rear connecting part is broken and it is perfect condition other than that![frame][/frame]

To repaint the top "handle" recess around the "M", I used Tamiya clear red. It lets the chrome underneath shine through and looks close enough to original to fool quite a few purists. Just put enough coats until you are happy with the look. At least you have another on hand to compare it to.
I did mine quite a few years ago and it is still good.

There's very little you can do with the pitted chrome. Re-chroming is far too expensive. It might be better to replace it.

Even better are NOS parts if you can source them, as there is a serious quality issue with some repro parts.
The recess around the "M" on the lift handle can be hand painted as Roni suggested.

Yes the recess round the M can be painted on the one mounted on the car, but the loose one with the broken peg has separate enamelled badges fitted into the casting and are superior quality to the later painted ones. There a little tab that stops the badges rotating and they are held in by a short tension spring going right through the body to the other badge. the later ones were just painted straight red like the MORRIS and bull badge beneath, though i guess the tamiya paint suggested would make a late badge look like and early one and be more attarctive and glowy.

Later solid emblems you can get new, normally painted solid red (and blue for the MORRIS bit) but I don't think you can buy new early ones with the hole in for the enamalled badges, so you're stuck with whatever chrome you have really. If not badly pitted rechroming may be possible but not easy as thebase metal is poor.

Not sure offhand when they changed to the later tyrpe ones, presumably a cost cuttign measure, I'd guess early to mid sixties around the time of the last major facelift. No doubt someone more into Minor trivia will come up wth month and chassis number!

well shes made from 2, the body of a 57 and engine of a 62 and a bit of the two mixed together, so i gues they changed production between those 5 years...
