its been a while since i was last onboard, but the resto by young Mr Legg is coming to a end and i should get my moggie back in May, then its the fun of the full mech build and painting .
Sorry for the ramble i am pricing up a full interior trim kit, i might as well her justice. Does anyone have any feed back on Newton / Bull motif etc or are there other suppliers that i am not aware of
The trim provided by traders such as Bull Motif, ESM etc comes from Newton Commercial but they may be able to offer a better price than Newton if they have bought in bulk. And some traders have special offers, cheap postage deals etc so it would pay to shop around. If I were you I'd contact Newton plus a number of other traders and see who will give you the best deal as a full interior isn't cheap!
If you're talking seats, carpets all door cards, scuttle panels etc expect about £2,000! Really good second hand interiors do appear on Ebay so keep a look out!
As I see it, I am spending a few bob on the body rebuild so it would let the vehicle down by using the old (and not correct) trim. prices so far are in the £1100 - 1300 area
If you have the old interior to use as a template and you feel confident why not make you own. I brought a newton interior and looking at it, the two front door cards and scuttle panels shouldn,t be a problem the back fitted with arm rests may be a little harder. But i,m sure you wouldn,t be spending over a grand. Hardboard from B and Q material from the market or good suppler its only a leathette and bobs your uncle.
i went down the diy route.. having had the shook of the newton interior costs.. do not get me wrong I can not fault the quality of what they make it is just 1300 quid into a car that cost 2500 does not go.
this is my first attempt in cloth..

and..

now doing it in vinyl..

as for price i get 10 meters of fabric for the entire interior ( from a fabric place in bridgend) at 3 pound a meter or 5 pound a meter for vinyl. my sewing machine cost 5 pound on ebay and I had never used a sewing machine before..
but neither of my cars are standard.. therefore it was not a difficult to choice for me to make..
Alfabob. I'm in Llantwit Major and have a brand new leather 2-door complete kit in Red from Newton ('er indoors now wants a different colour. Dont ask!!!) so you could come and have a look at the quality/fit if you want.
Cheers

thanks for that, i assume its a nice quality kit? What is your opinion?
I am waiting for a price from them, they have sent me a detialed list of whats in the kit and one of the very well parts suplliers has not even replied to my email asking for prices and that was sent Monday, needless to say i will not be buying from them.
Another well known company have priced a kit up cheaper than Newton, but do not suply so much items such as the sunvisors, foam, webbing etc and that's why its cheaper.
Newton stuff is as good as anything I've seen, and I used to work for a company restoring Aston Martins. The assembly is quite complex and makes the difference between a good job and an excellent one, hence paying Newton to fit the new leater covers themselves.
IIRC, it was about £1600 when it was done in around 2005 so probably about £2000 or more these days.
Have decided to go with Newton's, by the time i add on the extra parts supplied by Newton's but not by the other cheaper company their prices are no different to the other parts companies. Wait of about 5 weeks and that should be about the time the car returns for its rebuild
