on the pre 63 versions they used different finishing on the dash - e.g. cromed plastic trim around the end of the glove box liner.

On the later cars I'm not sure what else was different - does yours have a rear passenger ash tray?

i believe overriders were fitted as standard to delux, and as an option to others - but i could be wrong.

I was told a deluxe model meant it had 4 doors. Is that right?

Didn't non-Deluxe have no heater or was that just on the earlier cars?

Deluxe specification was introduced in October 1953 and was available for 2 & 4 door saloons, convertibles and travellers.

The early deluxe specification for saloons and convertibles included a heater, leather seats, over riders and a passenger sun visor. From February 1959 the heater on deluxe models was fitted with a pearl grey shroud (light beige from October 1961). From August 1961 deluxe models were fitted with windscreen washers.

Leather seats stopped being available for deluxe models with the introduction of the duo tone interior in 1961. This was used in deluxe models only, up until October 1964. I’m not 100% sure but from October 1964 onwards the only real difference between a deluxe and standard model saloon / convertible seems to be the over riders. Mines a 1968 deluxe and doesn’t seem to have any special features!

oh yeah, i do have winscreen wash. tbh i wouldnt know bout the shroud as my heater was ripped out in favour of one out of a transit, an unelegant solution im intent on ripping out. i also have a mirror on one of the sun visors... though i suspect this was just glued on at some point =/ i have to say though, the standard leather seats are much nicer than the supposed deluxe two tone vinyl affair i have. seriously comfortable mind, especially the rears... but i imagine the rear seat springs and front seat webbing and stufing are the same for deluxe and standard.

that shelf some cars have under the dash, that a deluxe fitment or one that came in on a certain date, or even just a popular retro fit?

The front parcel shelf isn't a deluxe fitment. Not sure when it was introduced but I think even the early Series MM's had them, although the 'padded crash bar' was introduced in October 1956 for safety reasons.
