i'v recently purchased a 1966 morris minor sallon and i was wandering if anybody could supply any infomation on the attachment and purchase of door mirrors. are there and dealers that could supply or would it involve some hunting at auto jumbles and on the selling thread.
i would not like wing mirrors as learnt to drive with door mirrors and this is preferable to me
any infomation at all would be very usefull.
cheers

Read through this before you purchase door mirrors or you may be in for a disappointment.

Some good news on this issue is that Lou Rocke spoke to James (owners' son) at Bull Motif about it and they hope to have a suitable mirror available towards the end of the year. Great to hear they are addressing the issue.

cheers, so there arent, realy any door mirrors that give decent visiblity? but some are being dicused. are there any others that may fit ok for intance my father was suggesting measuring up some from a Austin Summerset. may hunt arround a bit.
Re: Door mirrors for 1966 MM saloon
This is a good compromise, especially as it can be fitted without drilling or marking the car. So if you do decide to remove at a later date there aren't any holes.

Ok but a word of warning, we bought one of these and fitted it correctly. It had a tendancy of loosening and we had to keep tightening it up. I have heard of these falling off whilst driving
. If you are tall enough the wing mirrors mounted on the front wings seem to work fine (for people over 5'!)

Re: Door mirrors for 1966 MM saloon
cheers for advise am currently looking at some MGB chrome door mirrors from a breakers near southampton (am heading there to get some red leather MGF seats anyway) and after a bit of research it turns out that british leyland used almost identical door mirror attachment methords for several diferent modles and makes of cars. and a MGB appears to fit nicely. they dont look to bad either as they are in chrome. they look a little more retro than normal but not out of place.
also wont be too dissapointed if they dont work out perfecly as at £6 a pop they arent realy budget breaking
any other advise for the attachment of them? just take it slow and be careful?

Re: Door mirrors for 1966 MM saloon
If you can get a mirror small enough but still big enough for good visability try fitting it onto the small triangle of stainless steel that fits over the door edge of the quarterlight. This is removable (screws) and means you can drill the holes "off the car" in a vice. It also means you don't have to drill any paintwork. My overtaking mirrors are fitted this way.
