Hello everyone I was wanting a nice blue for my moggy perhaps tralfagar or Riveara but I can't find anywhere on the net that sells the original colours any help greatly appreciated

Too many regulations regarding spraying these days. Have a word with any of the usual Minor traders. Anyone with a workshop should be able to get the right paint. Your local car repairers may be able to help if you talk to the right person.

You can just mail order from these guys. By coincidence I just bought a litre of cellulose Trafalgar blue from them a couple of weeks ago.

Check yellow pages to see if you can find a local paint supplier. There will be one in most towns, usually lost in the middle of an industrial estate - that's where the garages get their paint from ;-)

Local is probably more convient, but our local celly supplier charges £30-35 per litre. The paint I had from Classiccarpaints worked out about £19 per litre - quite a saving when you're re-spraying a whole car.

I have just had a nightmare experience with classic car paints. I live in Manchester and waited over three weeks for a delivery of smoke grey, with several phone conversations, according to them the third time they dispatched the paint it finally arrived. However, it was Ford grey. The two previous deliveries never arrived, which is quite bizarre. At first, when I phoned to say they had sent the wrong paint, one of them told me that it was very similar. (It isn't,Ford Grey looks like primer and anyway, I would expect someone who claims to specialise in classic car paints to know that similar is not good enough) I live in Manchester, and they are based in Birkenhead, so after a 100 mile round trip to return the Ford grey. I came home with what I was assured was the correct colour, only to find out it was more green that the smokey blue grey it should be. So, after speaking to them, they promised mix it again using a paint code that I had to supply to them. (Thought they were specialists in classic car paint!!!!!) Another trip to Birkenhead, only to find out that they didn't want to mix using a code, they wanted to mess around with the tin I had returned and just judge the colour by sight. I had completely lost confidence in them, and got a refund from someone (I presume the owner) who was very rude. I was really given the runaround by them, I find it hard to believe that any business carries on like this.

Wasted four weeks, and two trips to Birkenhead, from a firm that promises next day delivery. According to a member of staff,they have major problems with delivery, with lots of product not arriving, or getting broken up. Something to do with not declaring that they are posting flammable matter because it would cost them too much. It is a little unit on a croft, the mixer is a young lad, with a very brusque attitude. The parcel that did finally get through to us was very bashed and had not been packed very well, so it's not rocket science why they have problems. It's also difficult to get to the truth, because they will all tell you a different tale on the telephone. I will never use them again, and if they continue to trade in this fashion they won't be around for long anyway. I have found it is definitely worth paying a few extra pounds, to get high quality cellulose and first class service from paints4u.

I posted the link and have since used them twice, both times with serious delays and poor colour matches. Had to chase them on both occasions and got exactly the same excuses about damaged packaging and returned paint.

I now use my local Brown Bros. and they are extremely helpful and will mix colours straight away. They have even let me borrow the paint chips to take home to match colours.

Apologies for bumping an ancient thread with my first post. It's ironic that I finally got round to joining this site some years after selling my Moggie.

Found this page after googling to see if any other classic owners had experienced problems with Classiccarpaints. Very depressing to see that I'm not alone.

Order for a couple of litres of cellulose placed on 10 January this year, and neither the paint nor a refund received as of 9 March. Like the other users on here, I've also had a catalogue of excuses; contradictory information; and promises of delivery over the course of 20 phone calls.

If anyone does try to use this company, I'd recommend paying by credit card so you at least have some comeback. I made the mistake of sending a cheque (which was cashed almost immediately).

I use jawel-paints(an Ebay seller).Theyre based somewhere in the Midlands.Been using them for years.Their paint(celly,2k anything you want)is excellent.Next day signed for very cheap delivery.You can phone them and talk to tradesmen who know what theyre talking about.I am presently using their 2k Smoke Grey.Its the right colour.Last year they mixed me a gallon of Highland Green metallic for a 1968 Ford Mustang which was also spot on!A gallon of specially mixed paint is less than £130 which will paint your car twice!They stock all your painting requirements.
May I say I have no connection with them save having bought and used their products with total confidence over the years.
