Fantasy car if I didnt have a Minor - Ami6

Post by badfelafel »

If you weren't a Minor fancier, what would be in your garage - Ferraris and ££££s cars not included!

Mine would be an original Ami6 saloon (with the backward sloping rear screen)

Never see any about tho :(

I suspect being a Minor fancier rather skews my choice of other cars towards (mostly) quintessentially English stuff, but I would choose:

Rover P4 (will probably own one someday, would prefer the 80 model)
Morris Oxford MO or Six MS
Austin A40 Somerset
Morris Isis
Land Rover
MG Midget
Citroen 2CV

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd maybe choose a Saab 95/96

I'm perfectly happy with my TR7 Drop Head Coupe. Very few of them about!

A new Jag XJ-L :o (one of the few cars that are better looking than an XF...)

A 2 stoke Trabi Kombi (hmm - got that one)
An early SII Minor with 1275 and 5sp (hmm - got that one too! )
A 71 Marina Suntour Camper van (just like mine, but solid and MOT'd)
An interstingly modified (lower than low) 69 Minor 1000 with fiat 2ltr (like my project but not just in my head..)
A concours Austin Minor Van (like mine would be if I didn't have all the other projects..)
A late 60's 109 SII 12 seater with 3 litre turbo diesel (doh! I sold that one as I needed the space and never really needed it )
A late 60's 88 SIIa 2.25 diesel (I used to have an 80's version, which was good except for paying road tax!)
Volvo Amazon - pimped and slammed. (unlikely to ever happen, but would love it)
Riley Elf - all standard (can't actually justify having that)
A40 Somerset (even less likely)
Morris 1100 (in red like Basil's, but with tuned 1300 running gear - maybe one day..)

Oct 06: back from Dresden with my Trabant 601 Kombi
Jan 07: back from a month thru North Africa (via Timbuktu) in a S3 Landy
June 07 - back from Zwickau Trabi Treffen
Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

15/50s are lovely. I have owned mine for 10 years now. They are really nice to drive, the handling is superb. These cars are very similar to the MG Magnette which was one of the best sporting saloons ever. The Wolseley 4/44 is much the same but with the XPAG 1250cc engine and column change.

Fantastic cars.
