I'm a newbie having only recently got hold of an old and incredibly rusty Trav to restore and use as my surf wagon. Always wanted a woodie. But I recalled on a trip to the States when I came across a stunning Traveller which although I was heavy into rods, at the time I was running a V8 Pop back home in the UK, this traveller stopped me in my tracks due to the fantastic workmanship on the car. I'm just sorry i did'nt get more pics. The meet was a Goodguys rod meet in Rhinebeck in upstate New York. Goodguys is a rod and custom car association and I get to as many meets as I can. The trav had a full custom chassis, was powered by a Chevy V6 and every square inch of it had been massaged and tricked out. The paintwork was incredible but unlike quite a few American cars had not been overstated or overcustomised and stayed pretty well true to the original lines.[frame][/frame]
Here it is getting a well deserved top 10 Goodguys award. One cool ride I hope you'll agree.
Not sure about using the engine over here (given todays petrol prices!) but would have no objections to the guy (or lady) that painted the trav working on my van.
I rather like that car, the engine looks spot on in the bay the wooden headliner, dash etc look fab and the brilliant paintwork is beautifully ofset by the chrome on the wheels etc. BUT the headlights make me feel slightly ill....
