Rear bump stops
Does anyone know if you can still get the small rear bump stops as originally fitted on the MM? They look very like the front ones ones but obviously on a different bracket. Both of mine have fallen off since last time I checked......
The rear springs on my MM are very settled, I took they out on Saturday and Im going to have them re tempered by a local spring works. Surprisingly most of the rubber bushes are in reasonable condition, the eyebolt ones had completely fell apart.

Re: Rear bump stops
You might have to fit M1000 bump stops.
Let us know how you get on with the springs, don't make the mistake of fitting Traveller springs

Re: Rear bump stops
I left the springs in this morning to North Blefast Spring Works based in Cosgrave Street. The guy who runs it has a very smart smoke grey traveller that Ive seen at the shows a couple of times. I asked him when they would be ready and he said "this afternoon"!! Hows that for a quick turn around!! He had to replace one of the centre leaves as when they were separated and heated it cracked. I picked them up painted and all about 4pm and he only charged me £25.00, happy days
as I was expecting it to be quite a bit more.

Re: Rear bump stops
Sounds like a good deal, you would pay a lot more for a new set of springs, even if you could get seven leaf Series MM springs

Re: Rear bump stops
I wonder also if re-tempered original springs (probably made from better steel) will hold their shape longer than modern pattern ones.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Re: Rear bump stops
Hi David,
well I had a look and have only one it's cylindrical and not like the 1000 one's I think. Also it's held on by the axle u bolts. I don't know if it's original but you can have it if needed, I'll take a photo over the weekend

Re: Rear bump stops
I got it put back together today with some assistence from Bert and Stevey, thanks lads!!
I did have to use later type bump stops but will look for the proper ones ( PM sent to James
)
It seems a great job and well worth the effort, the springs actually move now when you go over a speed bump...... It was well tested today with 3 of us in it.
Heres a pic that hopefully shows the difference retempered springs fitted, [frame]
