ital carb and manifold
i have recently bought a ital 1275 engine. and was just wondering if the carb on it is any good. on the float chamber it says fzx1160. and on the manifold it is stamped 12g787. the car is mounted on the manifold. so basically just wondering is this a good carb for the engine.
Re: ital carb and manifold
It will be fine - but measure the size of the outlet on the carb to find if it is an HIF 38 - or 44.

Re: ital carb and manifold
the carb looks to be hif 34 from when i measured it. would i be better to purchase a hif 44 carb. however would the manifold marked 12g 787 which the carb is mounted on strangle the performance of a hif 44.
Re: ital carb and manifold
The carb may be HIF 38 (there is no HIF 34) - and is adequate for a standard 1275 engine. If you want best performance then upgrade to the 44 carb, and either get a manifold to match (MG Metro or one of the many copies) or grind out the hole in the manifold you have if it's not big enough.

Re: ital carb and manifold
i have now bought a hif 44 carb and mg metro inlet. would i now be okay to put my standard minor manifold on. or will this restrict it
Re: ital carb and manifold
You can use the standard Minor exhaust manifold (need to cut it off the inlet section) and it will run - but obviously will be better with a decent exhaust manifold and system.
