interior trim
hi,
I'm looking for some new door and rear cards. at the moment i've got plain light blue ones (no ribs). most morris' i've seen have fluting on the lower half. have i got replacement cards from a later date, and if i went for the fluting would it still be period to my moggy (its 1969 smokey grey)? thanks

Re: interior trim
I think the plain cards were on standard cars and fluted on delux. Has your Traveller got over riders, another delux fitting?

Re: interior trim
ah.. its a two door saloon. it does have over riders though. i'm beginning to think plain door card look alittle sparse!
Re: interior trim
Plain door cards were used in earlier Minors or Minors that were used as disability cars. The fluted version would be correct for a standard 1969 car. Post up a picture of your door cards so we can see what type they are.james.ed wrote:have i got replacement cards from a later date, and if i went for the fluting would it still be period to my moggy (its 1969 smokey grey)?

are they fluted aswell like mine?[frame]

(you can only just see it, behind the passenger seat)
your car should have the fluted front ones like minel[frame]

hope that helps

Re: interior trim
nope.. just more plain cards at the rear. i've got my eye open for some fluted ones (hoping for some good second hand ones, but if not i'll get the repro ones). thanks for the help.. always thought having the plain ones was a little stange!

Re: interior trim
it is a ware's car.. but it had those cards from the first time i saw her so i think they'd say sold as seen. it does puzzle me.. i just thought it might have been a standard interior perhaps. i wasn't as versed with morris' as i could have been, but cards can be replaced.
its nearly my birthday so instead of a knitted jumper it looks like door cards and carpets (the old one are rusty and oily.. hence the desire to make the floor perfect in the other message thread. I'm hoping even with the current floor, many hours of grinding, treating and painting, plus new seals, has stopped the current surface rust and perhaps i'll be good to get the carpets).

Re: interior trim
As long as you have cleaned/painted - and the floor stays dry - new carpets should be fine. Put down some sound proofing first!

Re: interior trim
I think i might risk it. I've put down a good layer of rust proofing paint and there's no sign of the rust returning at the present. Sadly, having run of time to grind, i did have to convert the surface rust on the rear floor panels instead of grinding. I expect it'll return in a few years, but so far so good and if i do get the panels replaced there seems little point wasting time in this area.
is sound proofing the same as under felt.. and is there special car under felt or is it a more common product i might get cheaper at a carpet place?
thanks for all the help!

Re: interior trim
There is a compressed sponge underlay for carpets which might be suitable. Make sure that there are no leaks or it will soak up all the water

Re: interior trim
Don't be tempted to use house carpet underlay. It's ok in houses as it's held in place by gripper, under car carpet it can "walk" and get under the pedals which is dangerous. Most morris suppliers have underlay to go with the cvarpet they sell, or there are several who sell via Ebay. Sound deadening is a different material and is best used on the bulkhead. It doesn't work very well as underlay.
