LIGHTS LIGHTS HELP PLEASE!
Hi guys, Got my moggie today and there are a few niggles. The indicators are staying on and not flashing but rather holding a solid orange light. And the headlights will not come on at the switch full stop. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Cheers Budd.

Re: LIGHTS LIGHTS HELP PLEASE!
Hello Budd,
if both left and right are lit front and back, the chances are that the flasher relay is faulty (located on the bulk head just to the left of the battery box, looking at the battery). The lamps should be 21 watt rated but I'd be surprised if they are not?
Headlights is another unrelated problem. Do the sidelights come on if so then the switch has power? You need to check for power at the headlamps themselves, but it could be that the earths are poor at the headlights? Do a few checks and come back with your findings.

Hello Lowrider,
it may well work the indicators but the Minor has a relay with an auxiliary contact that operates the stalk tell tale lamp.
Better to get the correct relay from a Minor or electrical specialist.

Re: LIGHTS LIGHTS HELP PLEASE!
i have sent you a link you might find helpful.
on early cars without trafficaters the indicator switch goes to the second relay. The flasher unit (the first one) also goes to the relay. when you flick the indicator switch that powers up the second relay and makes the connections which allows the electricity from the flasher unit to go to the appropriate side of the car.
On the later cars the first relay is wired directly to the switch, there by eliminating the second relay all together

Hello Lowrider,
the second relay was the type used in early cars with indicators, but they didn't have a seperate rear indicator lamp. It is used to flash the tail lights (or was it stop lights) so had a dual function. What year is your car?
