Clutch Adjustmentne

Post by d_harris »

I've not had to tinker with clutch adjustment on a minor before (maybe I'm lucky!) but having swapped the engine (engine & gearbox out technique - which was not the original intention) now the biting point is right at the very top of the pedal and the clutch is slipping on acceleration.

What do I need to do to get the biting point in a decent place and it not slipping? I'm fairly confident that everything is re-assembled as it should be. No clutch componantry has been changed (same flywheel too) apart from the bush that bolts to the chassis leg.

Alongside the right hand side of the gearbox is a rod with an adjusting nut resting against the clutch forks. Turning the nut one way will increase the free travel on the clutch pedal, and the other way will reduce it. You should have about 1.25 in free play at the top of the pedal

Can't remember off hand and I am not going out in the cold to find out. Try it for yourself, you will soon work it out :)
