E bay convertible!

Post by 1mustard »

Hi all, i am currently watching and very interested in a convertible minor for sale on e bay, problem is i am miles away and its difficult to have a look at it, obviously i can see the basic project but as usual my main concern is if its well rotten it reads good, however this doesn't mean anything, does anyone live near this car and has or would be able to give the car the once over for me?, honestly my only concern is major rot, i expect a bit it comes with the territory, however i don't want a basket case.
Clearly i am hoping to get an honest opinion, and i am sure there are other people interested in this car so anyone could tell me anything to perhaps misslead me! (heaven forbid) so if you can give me any info i would appreciate it.
cheers
Andy

Might be handy if you post a link to the car and or state its location.

I'm guessing it's this one

Just a tad far away for me....... but looks great - worth it just for the fantastic wheels ! As long as the welding wasn't done by a certain 'specialist' in the Bristol area

thats what worries me, if i get it and there is shoddy work and loads of rot, however i spoke to the bloke who seems fairly genuine, and it looks reasonably sound from the photos, but i would like to see it really, i am miles away aswell, but not as far as you!.
cheers

Don't go by how genuine the bloke selling it is, he will just be telling you what he has been told.
There is no substitute for looking at it, or having someone look at it for you.

Ask him for some underfloor shots - and under bonnet - and inside the boot below the timber floor

There was another long-standing Minor specialist that was based less than 5 miles away on the old Truro road before they moved up country about 5 years ago, i believe.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

I think you mean Tim Lang - Minor Magic. Ring him 01823 461 861. He's based in Taunton, but may know someone a little nearer to the car who could give it the once over for you.

You could contact the Cornwall Morris Minor 1000 Club. Google details
