Traveller Rear Springs

Post by mike.perry »

I am not happy with the handling of my Traveller, my Series MM feels a lot better balanced through winding roads and is probably quicker through the bends. As I do not load the back of the Traveller with heavy items would fitting five leaf car springs improve the handling?

According to theory fitting softer rear springs would put more cornering load on the front tyres and hence increase understeer. My traveller with slightly tired 7-leaf rear springs understeers a bit more than I'd like anyway so it depends what change you're looking for.

Have you put thicker oil in the shock absorbers?
It makes a very noticeable improvement in the handling.

Just take one leaf out of the rear springs and try that - and the more viscous oil!

The trouble with stiffening the front dampers is that I have a queue of thaffic behind me as I drive over road humps at 5mph :(
