After Spraying what next??......

Hi, I am in the process of spraying my Traveller with cellulose paint but wondered what the best action is to take after finishing to get a really good shine?

Is it just rubbing compound? Or should I apply a good glossy lacquer? If so what do you recommend? Also what's a good polish?

when your spraying thin your last coat right down so its just coloured thinners should give you a nice finish. practice on a single panel and when happy do the car.
this is what I did and after leaving it for a few weeks I mopped with G3

First off - only spray in warm dry weather otherwise the paint will bloom horribly. Lots of thin coats with fine rubbing down in between and then as above - a final flash over with very thin paint. After a week or so (again in warm weather) you can polish it up as required - cutting compound if required - otherwise just some T cut and finish off with wax. Don't cover it with lacquer !!

As above spray celly in warm conditions (25C is ideal, 20c OK, any less , wait for a warm day or use a heated workshop!)

Then, once the paint is fully hardened, if you have any runs these can be flatted down with 1000, then 1200, then 1500, 2000 grit paper used wet. The same paper order for any areas of orange peel or dry overspray you get. Then once the car is all smooth paint/ flatted, bring the shine back with a machine polish. I start with G3 and a wet mop on the polisher and finish with a smoother compound (like Autoglym paint renovator).

Then the paint needs protection. I use Farecla glaze, buff it off then Blitz wax pure carnauba wax.

At this point your paint finish should be like a mirror!

If you heat the workshop make sure there are no naked flames - and if electric heater switch it off before doing any spraying. I have a friend who was lucky to escape with his life when he sprayed a car inside a garage with a log burning stove..... The car and garage were destroyed.........

Ok, thanks for advice guys. And thanks for heater advice, I am using an electric heater but I always TRY to remember to turn it off when spraying. Will make sure I definitely do now!!

The part I've done has come up shiny.......very shiny indeed!!
