Hi Guys,

its been quite on the morris front till last December when it went off to Jonathan at JLH for a rebuild on the front end and the JLH front dampner kit.

Its still there and i'm now considering having the rear dampner and radius arm kits added.

fingers crossed when i get it back it will be set up and ready for more POWER

i have been searching for ways to increase power, my twinny already has a stage 1 head, but there is more in there. most of my searching into the volumex lead back to being very hard to find, unreliable, and without the proper skills to DIY very expensive.

MartinB has a turbo on his fiat twin cam minor. drop him a pm maybe? i think his engine was built with a turbo in mind (lower compression etc) but on that link it does say '50 - 100 bhp gain on a stock motor at 6 - 8 psi of boost'.

seems a pretty cheap kit for what you get!

think most engines can deal with turbos at low boost not until you get around a bar of pressure that lower compression is needed...me thinks

Turboing a standard engine is a lot more than just adding boost. It depends upon the compression ratio (static and dynamic and therefore cam characteristics as well), intake temperature, detonation resistance of the combustion chamber design and consequently the burn characteristics of the chamber, grade of fuel, fuel delivery type (mist produced by injectors) and quality of distribution/mixing in the intake, piston crown strength, engine cooling capacity etc, etc.

Just adding "a bar of boost" to a standard engine may work for a very very short while but will generally make it detonate and blow the head gasket/wreck the piston & chamber and generally blow up.

A standard engine may take around 6 to 8 psi but will still need all the above to be suitable. Fuel like methanol or E85 will tolerate a much higher CR than petrol and would most likely be able to run over a bar boost on standard CR.

Turboing an engine is not cheap, that kit seems waay too cheap to be any good to me.
