Chrome bonnet lift handle

Post by steve.ellis »

My 1969 Traveller has a chrome bonnet lift handle that is all chrome, ie no red background to the ‘M’ emblem on each side of the handle. Can anyone tell me where I can obtain a new or good condition chrome bonnet lift handle that has the correct red background to the 'M’ emblem?

I had one of those tiny tins that I had left over from painting my grandson's kit aeroplanes, the enamel red was just right for the bonnet handle so did the painting myself....looks fantastic even if I say so myself...no need to buy new! :D :D[frame]Image[/frame]

A tip from practical classics (think) which i found worked very well was nail polish, then clear varnish over the top to protect it and get the shiny glass shape. I have done it, works well.

Another option is to use Tamiya clear red. It lets the chrome underneath the paint still give a shine to the area. Lasts well too.
