engine ID

Post by sb »

Recently kevin gave me advice on id for a 1275 engine, which was helpful.

As a result i took a brush to my minor 1098 and know i'm somewhat confused with the result.

Either side of the B.M.C motiff, on the right hand side of the engine when viewed from the front, there are two engravings.

Mine reads A19K0 and to the motiffs right MOWOG.

Possibly it reads M 10 K and MOWOG but either way its unlike the information found @ this nteresting site.

Any ideas? cheers, scott.

Cant remember the engine code off hand but MOWOG is stamped on many old BMC parts and is an inhouse manufacturing code on genuine parts there have been many thoughts on exactly what it stands for and generally its agreed that it stands for
MOrrisWOlsleyGarages which also includes MG being the 1st and last letters as the name MG comes from Morris Garages if you did not know.
Cheers
