The wearing of seat belts was compulsory in the eary 1980s?

It became compulsory to have front seatbelts fitted in cars registered on or after 1st January 1965.
However if you have an older vehicle which has seat belts fitted you must wear them.

The wearing of seatbelts became compulsory on 31st January 1983.
