Re: Modded or standard
Thought I'd toss in my pennies. My Moggie is mostly unmodded, lacking even a radio (though it may get one in the future). All I really want to add to the car are safety improvements -- seatbelts come to mind. I'd rather not fix what's not broken!

The way to a man's heart may be making food, but the way to my heart is buying me car parts!
Come read about my Minor at An American Moggie.

Re: Modded or standard
my new one will be fully modded, 1275c, 5 speed, jlh front and rear adjustable damper, ford escort rs rear axel, smoothed out boot lid, smooted out bulk head, smoothed out bonnet, alloys, disk breaks and its all bein cut out ready for a zetec when i can get insurance
freshly painted 1275cc anda very loud big bore exhaust
Re: Modded or standard
Mine is somewhere in the middle too, a slight modification on the paint job
and the interior colour but apart from that Rosie's standard. Oh and one side is lowered slightly (a mistake putting the torsion bar back in!). She will be getting disc brakes at some point, she needs some seat belts and evening back up too, maybe I'll lower the other side to match.

Re: Modded or standard
There must have been a lot of wastage making a rear seat catch out of a super market

Re: Modded or standard
I went for the middle option. As you can see from my sig she's lightly lowered and got black minilites. But the running gear is still minor (even down to the drums ARGH!)
I rebuilt the engine over the summer as it got very noisy and incontinent. So she's now sporting a 1098 with +020 pistons, a lightly cleaned up and 'flowed' in as much as I took out a few sharp corners that Mr Vizard suggests you take out!
She's sporting a large bore exhaust with LCB manifold and a HS4 carb with K&N air filter. runs like a dream at the moment and still running in, it'll only get better!
Suspension is only uprated in that it's about an inch lower and has an antiroll bar. Still using standard dampers which seem perfectly adequate at the moment.
I have another Minor in pieces (don't we all?) which is my little project. When i got him the only upgrades were marina pedalbox and discs, and tele shocks on the back. when i'm finished he'll have a 1275 midget engine and ford 5 speed. lower ratio diff, antiroll bar, custom exhaust, bucket seats, and no back seats. That's the plan anyway, but it's taken me 5 years to get the welding done. Still gotta fill some dents in the bodywork, trim the fibreglass wings to fit, paint it all, put it together, oh and rebuild the midget engine probably!

They are stock drums at the moment but that will all be getting changed once the engine is started.
ill be going with the old mr grumpy setup in the front and probably standard escort on the rear with uprated friction materials and possibly a set of grooved drums too.
Im a massive 27 next week so hopefully I should have the car done while I can still be a "young member"

on the other hand mona is a little more sensible

got telescopics all round and 13`s (with a new diff on its way soon)

Re: Modded or standard
Standard every time, the only modifications I've ever done to Minors or A35's are ribbed gearboxes, 1098 clutch and flywheel, radial tyres and temperature gauges!

Re: Modded or standard
Nice dash setup Ash
I'm modded - in pieces at the moment but will be 1275 Ital, ported big valve head, cam/carb/manifolds/exhaust etc all tuned up, Escort discs, Ital axle, coilovers front and rear, poly bushes, suspension dropped, custom interior, custom paint job, big sound system, wider arches at the rear (homemade), running boards along side, front spoiler and a few other body alterations.
I love standard Mogs, but whenever I see them, I just see potential for a hot rod - its such a great shape and just begs to be made to look menacing!

Re: Modded or standard
Yeah, I saw that on eBay a while ago, a pretty impressive machine! The roof chop is a little drastic in my opinion, though a roof chop is a great addition to a minor

Couldnt agree more. 4 or 5 inches and it changes the whole look. Gives it a beautiful sweeping roof line. Been secretly thinking about trying it out on Morris but dont have the ballls! (Or the ability)GeorgeHurst wrote:though a roof chop is a great addition to a minor
