Re: Merry Christmas Morris Minor
Decent Radio 4 type programme, light yet informative. Good to hear Rosie with that gravelly 40-a-day voice, and dear old Newell Post, and Andrew D (haven't seen him for years, Hi if you read this!)
Only crit I'd have is the lady from Barnsley Branch (their chairwoman?) saying she doesn't understand why anyone would want to change to modern seats: she obviously doesn't drive as many Moggie miles as we do or her back would be pleading for a set of Newton seats under the tree tomorrow.
Merry Christmas from sleety SW France!

I enjoyed, and in particular I like the idea that Morris Minor owners like a bit of "discrete naughtiness"

I enjoyed the programme. Thought the music at the end was a bit challenging though![frame]

it was quite good, i do agree the "music" ending did require some imagination, but over all i did enjoy it.
the blokes book, is roughly along the same light witty lines as well

Re: Merry Christmas Morris Minor
My aunty just told me about this programme on the phone, and I just listened to it on iplayer.
I thought it was quite good - it was nice that they actually broadcast them driving in a Minor, without blotting out the sound of the engine and gearbox etc - which is what I find too often happens on TV and kind of destroys the whole character of the car being filmed!
I didn't agree with a couple of things that were said - firstly, someone commented that when you're driving, you're normally the cause of a traffic jam or stuck at the side of the road broken down! From my experience this is not the case - my Minor's been incredibly reliable and has only broken down twice over about 30,000 miles. And, also, the latest Minor 1000 (of which one I own) with the 1098cc engine has plenty of gusto to accelerate and drive at normal road speed - and cruise on the motorway in excess of 70mph.
Best of all though, the commentator made a point of saying the Morris Minor is NOT untrendy!

I was listening too. Not bad story but the Jingle bells at the end spoilt it for me.
Never mind.
Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year. See some of you in 2011

Re: Merry Christmas Morris Minor
I Listened to the show on Iplayer this morn, I found it really Interesting, Especially the part about extending the width or the car by 4 inches.
Listen to it while you still can.
Pity radio doesnt have pictures.
Didnt like the music at the end though, seemed fake to me.(use of computers)

Re: Merry Christmas Morris Minor
I thought it was a great program. It was a shame that it was not available as a podcast to download and keep. I don't suppose anyone managed to record it?
I also thought the music at the end was a bit of seasonal fun. It would make a good ringtone for the mobile....
A Happy New Year full of trouble free motoring to everyone.
