split screen convertable

I'm looking at a split screen convertable morris minor with the original 800/850cc? engine, rusty as hell but seems sound ish unable to look underneith as its burried in a bramble bush.

The miles is around 85,000 it's registered with the DVLA and has it's original key.

The interior has been dry stored as has the wings and bonnet.

No hood but it has the frame.

Floor sills etc are definatly rusty, doors are not bad, boot its shot, inner wings seem solid and engine rocker seems like it's been recently painted.

Last on the road 1994

Any idea of value people please, I've been offered it for £250
Sorry to pick your brains i'm just unsure. The deal comes with free storage though for the duration of the restoration as the farmer has said it can continue to live on his farm which is where the bloke left it for repair 6 years ago.

We need detail pictures really to make an informed decicision but even for a convertable if its as rotten as you say it is it's probably too much but the free storage sounds a good deal.

Also try and get someone who knows to look at it for you as they wont be wearing the rose tinted glasses and can look at it objectively

Did you say that you had offered £250 or been offered £250 to take it away?
If the chassis / floorpan is rusted be careful how you move it as you could distort the whole car

I offerd £50 he told me £250 I think we'll probably settle at £150
How would you move it, the farmer I think is thinking of using one of those pronged hay things under the car although I would suggest bracing it first maybe.

It will need an entire new floor and sills.

i would say if it needs new floors and sills that lifting it wouldn't be a great option.

If it's as rotten as it sounds I'd be putting some bracing in before any thought of moving it.
Convertibles don't have roofs that will hold the structure together, how would you even lift it?

Even some Dexion and self tappers would be better than nothing.

Spot welding the tops and bottoms of the doors to the body may help to keep it together.
