FAN WITH MORE THAN TWO BLADES???
I got my car one week ago and I see that the fan has only two blades.
I do think it will be enought (for the summer time in Spain).
Does anyone knows if I can find a fun with more than two blades or what will be the solution?
I could not found anything on the spares parts webs(U.K.).
Thanks

You can get various types from Minispares but check the diameter. eg

It is also possible to fit an electric one-There's plenty on ebay.

Thankyou very much for your answer.
Do you know if the fan for mini is valid for minor also?

I remember reading somewhere that the mini fan runs the wrong way for the minor but you could always use two minor blades crossed over.

Re: FAN WITH MORE THAN TWO BLADES???
The mini fan pushes air through the rad while the minor pulls it so they aren't interchangeable.
I'd see how it goes in the Spanish summer, unless you tend to get stuck in traffic it's a moot point anyway, the fan does nothing useful when the car is moving.
If it does turn out to be an issue, fit a second Minor fan at right angles to the current one.

Re: FAN WITH MORE THAN TWO BLADES???
Just as important is checking the condition of the radiator, that non of the tubes are blocked and there is no sludge in the bottom.
When you are driving the fan is irrevelent as the air flow through the radiator is greater than the fan could manage, the fan is important in slow driving or when stationary.
An electric fan would be useful as it would continue to operate after the engine had been switched off

Re: FAN WITH MORE THAN TWO BLADES???
The standard fan on North American export cars was two fan blades bolted at right angles. The result is mostly more noise! The fan is more of an obstacle than a help above about 30 MPH.

I have a four bladed fan. Temperature here is 30 - 35 degrees C all year. Never had a boilover even in stop/start traffic. Use a decent quality coolant though.

UK cars had two blades, export versions had the four blades. For your climate I would have thought four blades would be the go

Don't waste money on an electric fan! The Minor cooling system has PLENTY of reserve capacity ! Do fit twin blades at right angles if you are worried - or a Marina (or Spridget) multi-blade fan. NONE of the Mini fans are any use to you........ A 72 degree thermostat may be a good idea (if that's not what's in there already) - certainly DO NOT run without a thermostat. And of course - DO fit a good temperature gauge.
