52mm gauge location ideas

Hi all just bought 3 gauges one oil pressure a water temp and a volt gauge all with chrome binacles so will not look out of place with the standard centre cluster

I would like to see where others have placed the gauges in the car, obvious place would be in my drivers side (right hand) glove/storage compartment but half of me does not want to cut mine and modify it so if I go this route I'd have to get a crabby one to mod or make a blanking plate.

Are there any other good locations that have been found that look cool

Bear in mind that they need to be in sight and easily visible as the cars more than likely going to get some hard rags when out

Mine are tucked down just below the dash - so the car looks original yet the dials are easily seen. Nothing worse than an attempt to turn a Morris Minor dash into a 747 cockpit !

reasonably visible, well they were fine with the two spoke standard wheel, the mountney can get in the way but not too badly.

they're mounted on a pieces of wood with some carpet/felt glued on. then that board is held into the 'apperture' with two wedges taking advantage of the tapered shape of the finisher, and the return lips on its back edge. no butchering necessary.

Two of probably the best places, I can now see a partial problem with the glovebox position however can possible be resolved with lowering the column but I've heard it's a bad idea.

Bmc did you fab your mounting bracket up or is it a piece that can be bought, I've seen the singular pods that can be bought and not too keen on them

Still the glovebox pod looks very tidy. I think it's a case of getting the seating position the right height before I make a mounting plate and choose what height on the dash is best

Looking a the picture of the glove box mount I won't be able to do this with my setup as I have the dash with two gloveboxes and don't want to convert to the later style so under dash may be the way forward

If you are planning on fitting just the one gauge, i would also just fit it under the dash. If you are chucking a rev counter in at some point or a oil pressure gauge, i would definitely go with fabricating a dash panel. Can be made easily using MDF and your original as a template.
