This may be a stupid question,
Do all 1098 engines have a 25d type dizzy fitted, is there any markings on it to tell me what type it is.

They did originally - but a 45D is better and will fit straight in. Yes - each dizzy has a long number stamped to identify it There are various on-line data-bases where you can check what you have! Little relevance today - the petrol now is very different!

Just found 25D stamped on the top of the dizzy near the A/R Wheel.
Doh!

Yes - but there will be a much longer number stamped on the side too.
