Starter Switch Button

Post by donington »

Help! We have a '59 Minor 1000. The starter switch button on the dash will not pull out to start the engine. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

The actual switch is above and just to the left of the battery when
looking from the front of the car. Put the car in neutral and press
the small plunger in the middle of the switch. If the starter operates
then the switch is ok and not seized so the fault must be in the
pull cable mechanism which should be easy to oil or spray with
WD40. (If the small plunger will NOT push in then try squirting
WD40 around it, it will not cause any sort of electrical short)

thanks, willie. I should have said in the original message "starter switch button" but it looks like we may have a problem with the switch based on what you said, even though we just had it replaced less than a month ago.
