right, got round to swapping the feed wire for my temp gauge from the fuse box to the voltage stabiliser on the back of speedo. Now this really should be an easy job but I seem to have discovered another wire, which has confused me quite alot. As you probably know there is four terminals altogether on the stabiliser, with two that supplys 10v?. anyway, I know that I need to connect my temp guage feed to the spare terminal that supplys the 10v feed. this is where the problem lies, there was another wire that was connected to the Fuel guage feed. now, typically, i fell off I could realised where it went to. It was attached to the fuel guage and I think then went to the spare 10v feed. Now does anyone know why it was connected like that? As far as I could see, It shouldn't have been connected like that. Any help accepted greatfully
Thanks
chris

Re: Temp gauge wireing AGAIN
Looking at my diagram there should be 3 greens on one side of the voltage stabiliser and a light green on the other, going to the fuel gauge. You need your temp gauge to be connected to the same side as the light green wire.

[/frame] This is the wiring diagram for the voltage stabiliser for the Mini Delux which also has a temp gauge. It is taken from the Mini Workshop Manual Issue 1

Just look at Barry's excellent wiring diagram at the head of this section - print off a copy and keep it in the car. It really is very very simple........

Re: Temp gauge wireing AGAIN
The red wire on the temp gauge is the instrument backlight and should be wired into the sidelight circuit or panel light switch

Re: Temp gauge wireing AGAIN
there was already a backlight wire the and the backlight is still working with the red wire off. The red wire was an add on by some previous owner, the previous owner seems to have done all of the add ons and repair work in red wire. anyway, everything is sorted now,
thanks
