Whats it worth

Post by SvMinor »

I saw this van in my local classifieds, I aint selling it but I am Interested in buying it. all I know is the fella bought it to advertise his business but has not got round to restoring it,

Ive asked about welding needing done, he said he thinks it will need a bit of welding done ,but not sure what.

It was running about a year ago but hasnt been started since then.

Judging by the pics can you all give a rough idea as to what it could be worth.

I repeat I am not selling this van, I am Interested in buying it. the seller emailed me the pics because he is a 2 hour drive from me.

Just want to know what it might be worth

Thanks Mark[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Some close ups of the gutter area too, it's quite hard to eradicate rust from there.

Can't see any of the GPO additions like the towing eye on the rear bumper. Those are the ones which fetch good money (£2k+ for something with an MOT)

Also the wheels look like they're normal moggy ones, not the wider Van ones whcih I think means it's a 6cwt van, not 8cwt ?
Saw one go for £1800 on ebay in MOT'd-but-v rough condition, but I think that was a bit overpriced.

As the other posters here say though: it's the underneath which is important bit.

I'm turning into a moggy van nerd. . I've been after one for ages !

Mmmm

This is an odd one......

GPO/PO additions that jump out are the washer bottle bkt & the jets - 1964-1971

On a 'C' plate, yet the body has a red painted interior - should be sandy beige (floor is black over red suggesting 1969-1971), the n/s/f dr has the hole for a Yale lock too. Blk cab dr window surrounds...etc...

I assume you didn't make note of the chassis number?

No idea what the FULL registration number is!

Looks like it has an identity issue - anything is possible after so many years!

Need either the chassis or cab number to date it accurately.

Then I can provide its GPO allocation & fleet number.

DYV 1-450C were mostly Northern Ireland of Scottish vans...but it looks like ??U 208C.

Many Scottish vans were transferred to N.I. as replacements for ones suffering riot damage, or destroyed during
the 'troubles'!

without a closer inspection, it could have been worth anything from £300 to £1500
The amount of rot in chassis, cab, and the back can make it a good project or a basket case. You will see some detail if the pictures are good, but the ones you've got won't show anything in detail as they are from too far away and none of chassis, inner wings etc..

The van was sold before I got a chance to view it, and as for the photos the vendor emailed them to me I didnt take them.
This is why I posted the question, Whats it worth?

Thanks Mark

Shame no chassis number!

Going by the 'C' re-regn. it would have been one of the following;

DYR 776C - 628 CMN
DYR 873C - 631 CMN
DYV 526C - 425 DMN
EYV 303C - 750 DMN
EYV 538C - 751 DMN
GYF 615C - 194 EMN
GYF 660C - 261 EMN
GYF 702C - 374 EMN

When returned/sold/used on the mainland they'd be re-registered using 'local' age related registrations.

Any idea what the FULL registration is/was?
