1300 triumph or A+ - which one

Post by GDL »

I am sure i am asked this one before, but my memory is shot.

I have managed to source a 1300 engine, box & diff out a dolomite (but the same as a spitfire) for £85 - will this fit my moggie easily or will i need to do some major changes - i.e bulk head cutting etc. before i commit to buying, excellent condition etc, still in the cr and running

or i have found an A+ that needs a complete rebuild for £75. - been standing.

mainly intersted in the messing around factor, as i really want to avoid it, if at all possible.

which should i run with?

I can't see the point in fitting a Triumph engine in a Minor when the A series is a better engine. Having said that, the 1300 engine is better than the fragile 1500 lump, but not by much.
Just get a good 1275 and off you go - no real mucking around required ie no new engine/gearbox mounts, no new prop shaft, no clutch/gearbox mods etc etc.

if the box has the overdrive you can mate it to an ital box which makes a relaxed drive

Just get the A+ - the Triumph engine etc will be a LOT of work.
