Post by Alex'n'Ane »

Is it possible to redrill marina front uprights/ discs to ford pcd? Any idea of rough cost?

It depends on the actual hub design. As the PCD is quite different you need to offset the holes to the original ones.
On the Marina set up on my pickup, the area in between the current holes is thinner, and therefore not ideal to fit a stud 45° in between the current ones.

If the PCD is within a few mm between old and new - it is possible to drill oversize in new location and fit a top-hat bush to the hub.

the marina are 3.75 inch so taking them out to 108mm would be a fair move..

I would ask Jon at JLH - I believe they sell proper steel hubs for Marina discs in various PCD formations. Modifying standard thin hubs sounds like an accident waiting. Alloy hubs are to be avoided at all costs........... Of course many just use the 3.75" PCD to advantage and fit cheap MGF alloy wheels! Marina /Dolomite rear axles have the same 3.75" PCD........ They don't fit much else - so there are often bargains on ebay.

Hi,

Do the MGF rims need larger diameter studs fitting to the Marina hubs?
If so what stud?

Can someone put up a link to the other posting about MGF wheels please.....Ta!

the mgf wheels need larger studs metro / mgf

these are the correct ones i think..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rover-Metro-Rear- ... 705wt_1139

when i fitted mine, the rear wheel studs were simply pulled in but the front was not so easy, however many others on here have just knocked the old ones out and pulled the new metro ones in, as the marina studs have a very large shoulder on them.

The only problem i have is that the nuts get to the end of the thread before the wheels are done up but you need to fit thin 1 or 2 mm spacers any way so that is not a problem.

Hi again Charlie,
I don't suppose you know what metric thread they are?

MGF wheels can be overpriced if you're not careful - however montego 14" steel wheels are the same fitment and are usually dirt cheap...
