Hi,
My sidevalve engine is making a lot of noise when reving, also inside the car its starts to smell like exhaust fumes quite rapidly.
So I guess somethings wrong with the exhaust gasket.
Since Bullmotif or ESM-parts don't sell those gaskets anymore, i wondered if i could use the overhead-engine gaskets.
On a picture of that type, i only can see that there are 2 extra holes left and right.
making my own gasket is an option too, but i'd like to know the thickness of the paper.
I'm sure someone knows the answer.
kind regards
Sevrien

Re: exhaust manifold gasket
You need a CA250 head gasket set, available from Gaskets for Classics. Is the engine smoking or burning oil? Check that the breather pipe is still attached to the tappet chest. Check the exhaust manifold to pipe gasket.

Re: exhaust manifold gasket
I don't think it's burning oil, nor can i see decent smoke in the engine bay, but the noise and smell comes from around the manifold. The manifold gasket doesn't seem that ok anymore for as much i can see while mounted.
