Hi All,
It's been a few years since I last tackled a set of Marina Disc brake conversion bearings and forgot what a pain they can be!
I've removed the hub from the up-right and the back bearing and dust seal are still stuck on the stub axle.
I need to remove the bearings in order to strip down the up-right for cleaning and painting.
If I remember right there is some sort of spacer under the bearing and this is often loctited onto the stub axle?
Anyone know if it's possible to remove the bearing in one piece?
Also, does anyone know where I can get some new bearings?
(I'm assuming they are different to standard Marina bearings?)
Thanks for the advice.
Martin

Have a look at this thread Martin, it's got some useful pics.

BM & ESM do the bearings and seals and I think they come with a new sleeve. If you can save the old sleeves it is cheaper to get the bearings and seals on their own. I think there are part numbers in the thread.

A collegue of mine had a similar problem with the front hub bearings while doing the Wolseley 9" brake conversion. He sent me this article which is quite interesting and has a good cross sectional drawing of the Minor and Marina bearing arrangement.

Here's some photos from Hans Dieter indicating that in his case it was not possible to remove the inner minor bearing in one piece. The angular contact bearing cage was plastic and the question is-is this always the case that the cage disintegrates? Are thes bearings re-usable? He has new bearings just in case.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies.
I removed the bearings with a bearing splitter and puller borrowed from work. Came off pretty easily really.
The only casualty was one bearing which I caught with the puller!
I have the number off the case so I'll try and get one rather than the whole set!
BTW - I have since modded and fitted a pair of Subaru discs to the hubs. Progress, progress....
