Can't find the REDEX lead replacement anymore, I used to pick it up from Wilkinsons for £4 ish a bottle The nice man at Halfords seems to think it's not available anymore?? (TRUE/FALSE?)
Don't fancy £14 a bottle for the Castrol stuff......time to splash out on a new head maybe....and what about the car

The signs on our Motorway say 'Red X is Mandatory' - so it must be around ??
However - don't waste money on this stuff or anything else - your engine will run fine on unleaded fuel - just open up the exhaust valve gaps to 15 thou - and check/reset them every 3000 miles. No need for any additives - most of which are of doubtful worth anyway! The ONLY additive with lead tetra-ethyl is Tetraboost - not cheap - but it does effectively make 'Leaded Petrol' from unleaded - but only worth doing for highly modified/hard driven engines.

Combine this recommendation with Mike's "wear it out first" advice and it could be a long time before you have to do anything. Periodic checking will tell you if the valve seats are receding and you will have lots of time to plan for the re-work or replacement of the head. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
