Re: Any Ideas
Keep the Morris! Much better car than all those alternatives.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Re: Any Ideas
Nothing wrong with trying others, we've probably all had many cars in the past, if you've not, go for it. I seem to remember you wanting to sell up before, so sounds like you're not 100% happy!

Re: Any Ideas
Don't be hard on him. I have had similar thoughts myself, more than once. it's not that I get bored of Minors or my particular car doesn't fit the bill. It's just that I focus so much on the marque to the point of ignoring the possibility of owning something else. I don't want to get to the age where I look back and think "You know, I really should have owned a *** while I still had the arms to steer it/flexibility to get in it/cash to buy it"
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Get out there and get test driving! Maybe something like an a35 or midget. Different beasts but familiar mechanics.
Beetles, despite their popularity are orrid to drive!

"Beetles, despite their popularity are orrid to drive!" .... and they are noisy and drink petrol!
If you are looking for something different why not try a sit-up-and-beg Ford Popular. Great fun but even slower than a Minor!
Another car to try would be a P4 Rover, lovely refined motoring, get one with overdrive. These cars are still affordable, the only snag you only get 20 to 25 to the gallon! A good Rover or Triumph 2000 wouldn't be bad.
Keep the Morris anyway in case you change your mind!

Hard? You're practically saying the same thing! While he's young go for it, otherwise he might also look back as well

Re: Any Ideas
I'd go for a triumph dolomite - good handling, reasonably quick and fuel efficient and comfortable too

Re: Any Ideas
Whenever I have sold a Minor I have soon bought another one! Its good to try alternatives though, any Triumph, BMC 1100, Rover P6 or SD1 or for a great change an old Land Rover.

Re: Any Ideas
One of the cars I long for is the Morris Oxford II that replaced my Minor 1000 when the family needed more room. It was big, comfortable and the "B" series engine is easy to hot up a little bit and all the engineering is familiar. You could also try importing a Hindustan Ambassador. The last ones came with Japanese engines, I believe, even a diesel version.
Fussyoldfart in Welland Ontario.

Re: Any Ideas
I have been in this situation before with all my car's. I have had a Sunbeam Rapier (fin back) 1725cc, Dolomite(s) 1850, 1275 mini, Hillman Super minx etc. and lived to regret selling them all (especially the rapier) - i have now come to the conclusion, If you get bored with the car you own - get a project to work on, because you will regret selling.
But if you are looking for alterntives i would suggest - Dolomite 1850 or sprint (but will be paying road tax), Rapier, Anglia, Rover P6, cresta.
