Swivel Pins (again)

OK, I have prepared my order for the parts to rebuild the front suspension on my '67 and because I am so far away from the source I want to know if I have missed anything. It is usually as a job nears completion that a small vital piece is missing or something that was to be reused is now broken. Even a nut or bolt if it is not metric or SAE thread can be a problem.

Here's a list of what I plan to buy, what would experienced hands add to it?

Swivel pins complete with trunnions, both sides.
Tie bar kits, complete with washers, rubber bushes, etc. both sides.
Eye bolts, both sides.
Eye bolt pins with bushes, both sides.
Track Rod ends.

What have I missed?????

Hi Darrell,

I've just done the same thing on my Traveller.
The one thing I forgot was the nuts for the eybolt pins, they are 3/8 bsf
which is a hard size to track down in Austalia.
These are the nuts in question

I also took the opportunity to replace the all bushes with poly ones.
as well as new wheel bearings and seal

I fitted metalastic bushes in the eyebolts. Once fitted you can forget about them for the next 25 years.
Not sure about the part nos, I think that they come from a Leyland Sherpa van but you may be able o purchase them from a local bearing supplier. The outer diameter fits inside the eye bolt and the inner dia. fits over the fulcrum pin. You may have to cut it to the correct length.
For the other suspension parts poly bushes are reckoned to be better than the normal rubber bushes

That's 2 votes for poly bushes which BM have for 34 GBP to fit the whole car. I have also been told JLH have superior bushes, perhaps a little softer than those other firms sell. Anything that will improve the NVH* on a Minor would be welcome. Who has fitted either kind and what was the result?

My car has a metalastic on one side - I discovered when I stripped it recently to fit poly bushes! Not sure how easy/difficult they will be to fit into the arm ? Certainly poly are well worth doing - don't use rubber - except for the inner bush on the tie rods at the front mount. If you fit poly on both sides it will be VERY rigid - and difficult to get the nut started on the thread! I have poly on the front and rubber on the inner side of the mounting bracket - and that works very well. The poly is there to take the massive braking forces (Wolseley 9" drums!!) - and the rubber on the inner gives some compliance. The biggest improvement you will notice is when you fit poly bushes to the top suspension arm mounting point on the top trunnion. These firm up the steering/handling of the car very nicely indeed.
