Just an update 2 months on.
After just over a week of ownership I had to replace the clutch master cyl on the MG, the week after that it was the clutch assy & slave cyl quickly followed by the gearchange cables. A dashboard light fault took some tracking down but we sorted it in the end. I then found a broken rear spring (£150pr), both rear shocks weeping (£500pr!). To top it all off it started intermitently dropping several litres of diesel over my drive when parked up, the front suspension has starting knocking and the battery failed during the cold weather!
The result of all this is over £1k spent on the car in 2 months. So it stands me at nearly £5.5k & now I find that no-one actually wants to buy them & most garages offer around £2200!
Thankfully I've managed to come to a reasonable deal with a local garage against a Mondeo 1.8 petrol estate. It's a little older & lower spec but I'll just be glad to have a car that doesn't cost me an arm & a leg to fix if it goes wrong.
I'll be more glad to see the back of the MG than any other car I've ever owned!
