Hi, first post for a first time Morris 1000 (57) owner
For reasons best known to the voices in my head I have fitted a set of alloy wheels to my Mog. First problem was finding out the standard mog wheel nut is no good with the Minator rim (wrong taper) so new sets will be purchased, second is the rear studs are too short. Loads of longer studs on the market but need to know how long a standard stud is so I can add say 10mm and order away. My girlfriend suggested the subject wording as she is bored with me talking about Morris wheel nuts and Whitworth treads at bed time!!!!!

Welcome to the forum. No wonder your g/f is confused - the wheel studs are (3/8") UNF thread not Whitworth!!
Are the new wheels definitely 4" PCD ? Are they not designed to be used with sleeve nuts - fitting closely inside the bore of the holes for the studs and using perhaps a steel taper washer to seat on the wheel taper ? That's how my alloys fit (on my TR7).
Plenty of longer studs (if that's what's really needed) at any of the Mini suppliers - just cut them down if they end up too long.
All sorted The studs turn out to be fine but changed the wheel nuts for the longer "blind" type purchased from ESM.
It's worth noting folks that if you buy alloys second hand check the nuts will fit and seat properly, the standard M1000 taper nuts look OK to use with Minator wheels but only bite on the top edge of the taper. The result is a CLUNK CLUNK after a half mile down the road and a wheel bidding for freedom [frame][/frame]

From left to right:
Correct nut for the Minator (Minilite style) wheel
Standard M1000 nut, wrong taper
Mini nut, that came with the used wheels, I'm told and does not fit [frame][/frame]

Thanks! Yes - Mini nuts are same thread but different taper and MUST NOT be used with Minor wheels. Have to say - the taper on that new/long wheel nut looks very similar to the Minor nut.
