Clio wiper blades

Post by bmcecosse »

Daughters Clio has fancy 'plastic spine' floppy wiper blades. So - does anyone know how to get these off the arm, and does anyone know of an 'economic' replacement - last time I looked in Hellfrauds they were ~ £30!! :o Is it possible to fit good old fashioned metal bladed wipers to the arms ? I would be better able to judge this if I could get the wretched blade off the arm! Any help/advice much appreciated.

I can't be of any help though I do sympathise; I'm having similar success trying to remove a CD player from my wife's car.

Thanks - but I didn't see that type in our Tesco last week. I have found several possible suppliers on ebay - and even refills to fit into the existing holders. Still don't know how to get the blasted blade off the arm though - some suggest it just 'clicks' off - aye right! Probably if I try that I'll end up with a million pieces in my hand..........

It is impossible, time to scrap the car!

tell your daughter that the wiper blades are only available from renault for £130 each and it takes fourteen hours at £180 per hour at a Renault dealership to fit each blade, and is not a DIY job as the engine needs to come out before the bulkhead can be removed, needing "special tools" that only Renault dealers have, to release the wiper blades and that she would be far better off chopping the car in and buying a Morris Minor.

Errrr - well that's all well and good - but I drive the car far more than she ever does, and ALL the costs and work done on the car are for ME. It does however seem to be impossible to get these wipers off - so any help/tips will be much appreciated.

Well - it's off - but not without some 'breakage' - just hope the new blades come with new mounts - or I'm stuffed!
I had hoped to find a normal 'hook' when the blade was removed - so I could fit a normal blade in the meantime - no such luck - it's straight (slightly hump backed) - a bit like the Minor arm but without the little stud to lock into the blade mount.........

I'd have waited for the new ones to arrive before breaking the old ones.

The method for removing them should become clear when you see them off the car.

I totally agree MB - but it was getting to me......... It is now perfectly obvious how they come off - you push down the little latch at the rear - which promptly snaps off - and then you use enormous force to slide the blade holder off the end of the arm. As I was expecting a 'hook' arrangement same as all my recent 'moderns' I had been pulling the dratted thing towards me rather than pushing. I 'think' it will be ok until the new blades arrive....... :o I do wish it would stop raining........
