Crossmember replacement stuck?

I just want to know how to replace the full cross member on a morris minor 1000 (1961) i have removed the engine gear box and all that tipped it over and now i just want to know if it is possible to remove the torsion bar withour removing the full suspension as just hoping to remove the nuts losen it then manually replace after taking off i am doing this on my drive not garage lol

any help would be great

You cant take the torsion bars off without removing the suspension, but the first time I replaced a crossmember I cut away the old metal leaving the torsion bars in place and then bolted the new crossmember onto it which also helped hold it in place for welding.

You would need to 'unload' the torsion bar while the weight of the car was acting against it. To unbolt it now will release quite a bit of stored energy - take care!

lol i think ones enough lol the worst bit of it all is trying to get the i think called wish bone bar back on the wheel stering lol
