Roof to cab rubber

Post by tedlogan »

Does anyone know if you need a adhesive to attach the roof to cab rubber on a Traveller? And if so what's best to use? Do you also need adhesive for the rubber filler neck?
Thanks Ted

No adhesive needed, but it's a bit fiddly. Make sure you pull the rubber really "down" at the corners where it meets the B post as this is the area most likely to leak. You have to pre-drill holes in the rubber for the bolts to join the front cab and back roof together as the rubber is quite thick and you cannot force them through. If you do need to use a sealant after try a black roofing mastic as it's flexible and will move with the car.

Here's what I'm using (everywhere!):

http://www.marinemastics.com/marine-flex.html

Easy to clean up (or peel from unwanted areas when dry) unlike household silicone.
NB/ Never never never user silicone anywhere on a car you may want to paint!!!!
