paint code

can anyone enlighten me , car is classed as grey though more a blue cant find colour code so i ordered smoke grey as i had a receipt from a previous owner , wrong he must have wrong paint also , looked at the colour chart , but no match , could it be dove grey . looked long and hard in the engine bay , 2 codes present one on left is chassis , one on right is all numbers starting with a Z can any one be of assistance. thanks Colin d.

What year is your car as the chassis number will only give an indication of paint colour if it was built between April '52 and Mid '58. Sounds like it might be smoke grey, and colour charts don't always give a good colour match, but can you post up a photo so that we can have a look? Paint colour can fade over the years so the best way to get an accurate match to the existing colour is to take a small sample (maybe a glove box lid etc) to a place that mixes up automative paint.

Thanks for reply didnt think to include year ,its a1969 2door. chasis No m/a2s5 D 1242428m . i bought smoke grey its definatelly not that , i have had a good look all over the car and although it appears to have been painted in the past it all matches ,i dont have a camera but will be able to get a photo in the next day or so . the other No that intigues me is the one on the right of the bulk head it is z36055 any help is gratefully appreciated colind.
