Fabric Length For Interior Trim!

Hi All,
been a while! I'm in Scotland from Sydney Australia at the moment! I'm wanting to trim the following:

1. front and base of my front seats
2. front and base of my rear seat
3. front and rear door cards and semaphore cards

in tartan or tweed and i thought while in scotland why not save on postage! i was looking at fabrics in pitlochy today and have no idea what length I'd need so was just wondering if anyone could recommend about how much I'd need for trimming?

I've done this in vinyl 150cm wide. I bought 9 metres which allows for the odd mistake. This recovered both front seats (top and bottom), rear seat (both parts), 4 door cards, scuttle panels and the rear wheel arch covers. There was enough left so I re-covered the inside of the glove boxes! It depends on whether you want to match the plaid stripes etc and how wide the fabric you are using is though. Hope this helps!

I used 10 meters i made up all the seats and panels for my convertible as well as making up the pipping and had enough left over to make 3 matching teddies, bearing in mind i had no experience of sewing before i started so i did make a few mistakes along the way..

Using a solid colour means that nothing get wasted through pattern matching.

Using tartan will take plenty of planning to get the stripes to line up between the seat bases and backs.

Another thought!
Is tartan hard wearing enough to use for upholstery?
Car seats take quite a beating, especially the edge of the drivers seat.

It would be a shame to do all that work if it wore out after a year or two.

Ask the people who sell it.
