emissions test
having recently failed my mot with flying colours, i cannot remember if they check/checked the emissions. would they just do a visual check to see if you are pumping out black smoke or would they stick the little tube up the car for a precise reading?

For pre 72 cars (and some years newer too) it is just a visual check for smoke.
Don't worry about the emissions, you need to get new front and rear spring hangers welded in!

i have them on order, should have them in my hand tomorrow and welded on by this time next week. then (fingers crossed) mot next friday and taxed all ready for the autojumble in newark on the 28th

Even my 1981 TR7 was just given a 'visual' emissions test at the last MOT........ so it seems to be very much down to the individual tester! Your Minor certainly does NOT get anything more than a visual.
